Classical music tuition from renowned teachers, set in a secluded mill in the heart of the Albi region in southern France

2013 Advanced Recorder Courses with Isabelle Zermatten

Overview of the Advanced Recorder Workshops:

Receive expert coaching in French Renaissance recorder music from Chamonix-based Isabelle Zermatten.

Enjoy the chance to play a range of concert repertoire, with tuition from an experienced French recorder player. The course will be conducted in the French language and will focus specifically on French music. There will be the opportunity to play with clavecin accompaniment and in the traditional combination of flute consort (SATB).

The course is for good intermediate and advanced recorder players so you need to have a fluent technique, good sight-reading skills and be able to play one to a part confidently to be able to get the most from the course.

You are welcome to come as a ready formed ensemble or to join other players on arrival, working on French works of your choice or a selection of available material. A practice space will be available to your group throughout the course and there are rooms around the house (or in the garden!) for individual practice.

The tutor will rotate between the groups giving tailor-made tuition during the mornings. After lunch there will be ample opportunity to continue playing in an informal way and/or to go out and explore the surrounding countryside and the medieval town of Cordes-Sur-Ciel.

After tea there will be a further coaching session. It is anticipated that the course will incorporate the singing of French renaissance chansons.

There is ample opportunity for informal music making during the afternoons and evenings. On three of the evenings, after dinner we shall hold Masterclasses which the non-playing guests are welcome to attend.
